Course Aims
This First Aid Responder (FAR) course is designed to provide the learner with the understanding, knowledge and practical skills required to provide and coordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the HSA and PHECC.
First Aid Responder (FAR) Course Content:
- Chain of survival (Adults, Infants & Children)
- The four major threats - Heart Attack, Stroke, Cardiac Arrest, Foregin body airway obstruction
- AED -(Automated External defibrillator) use
- Aspirin
- Incident Management
- Cardiac Emergencies
- Patient Assessment
- Injury management and shock
- Care of unconscious patient
- Burns and Electrical injuries
- Poisonings
- Common Medical Emergencies
Method of Delivery:
The First Aid Responder (FAR) course will utilise both theory and practical learning which will encourage student participation and feedback and ensure strong knowledge of practical skills.Duration:3 Days
Assessment:
Learners on the First Aid Responder (FAR) course will be assessed through Skills Demonstrations and Multiple Choice Question Paper
Certification:
ThisFirst Aid Responder (FAR) course incorporates the Pre Hospital Emergency Care Councils Cardiac First Response Course
Following successful completion of the First Aid Responder (FAR) course, candidates are awarded the following certificates:
- PHECC First Aid Responder
- PHECC Cardiac First Response Community
First Aid Responder Refresher - (from QQI level 5 OFA)
